Today it spans MBD Bus Service, MBD Travels, MBD Roadlines and MBD Resourcing Agency — moving 12,000+ passengers a day on 450+ trip schedules across Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

It started in 1929.
Founded in 1929 and stewarded by the Sheriff family since 1938, MBD has grown from British-era passenger shuttles into a modern transportation group — the story of how South India learned to move.

Where it began
Mr. Mohammed Badruddin Dehlvi — a Delhite posted to the E.I.D. Parry, Distilleries Division — acquires licenses from the British Raj to operate passenger transport shuttles. The MBD name is born on the road.

The Sheriff brothers take over
Khader and Yacub Sheriff — originally employed as pankha-pullers at E.I.D. Parry — acquire the business through a loan from the Imperial Bank of India, beginning a family stewardship that continues to this day.

The stage-carriage heyday
MBD's highest expansion period — growing to 100+ stage carriage permits and becoming the second-largest operator in South India, next only to Southern Roadways of the TVS group.

Into employee transportation
Among the first PSV permit applicants at the Vellore RTO, MBD signs MoUs with FDI companies at Ranipet SIPCOT and runs factory buses for industry — the foundation of today's corporate transportation business.
